SGT saw high growth in its volumes and sales, while extending its client portfolio to all the players in the bottling market, both in France and for export.

To meet new demands from its customers, SGT set up an injection shop for manufacturing preforms in PET (polyethylene terephthalate) as a complement to its PVC compounding business. The injection shop then had four presses.

To meet the needs of its customers interested in PET, SGT discontinued its compounding business and increased its PET preform production capacity.  The management decided to invest in 10 injection presses.

Establishment of a PET preform and cap production site in Rouïba, Algeria, in order to provide an even faster response to the needs of bottlers, locally and in neighbouring countries.

With a constant concern for remaining at the cutting edge of the technology, SGT has been renewing its facilities to increase its production capacity ever since. Thus in 2012, its machine base comprised 16 injection presses for PET preforms on its site in Rezé, with which it could manufacture over 155 preforms in various geometries.

Meanwhile, the Rouïba site in Algeria has 15 injection presses for PET preforms, which it uses to manufacture over 35 preforms with different geometries, and 2 presses for HDPE caps to complete its product range catering for local bottlers.

Establishment of a third new production site in Setif, Algeria, to produce PET preforms and HDPE caps. The annual output capacity of the Setif site in 2014 was 2 billion preforms, bringing the total capacity of SGT Algeria up to 3.8 billion preforms.

In July 2013, SGT’s expertise in the packaging of liquids earned the company the much coveted FSSC 22000 certification. This, the most comprehensive safety food standard, incorporates the entire ISO 22000 standard and the prerequisite programmes (PRP) of PAS 223, specific to food packaging manufacturers. The achievement of this certification was the culmination of the HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) drive to which the company had been committed for several years.

By achieving this internationally recognized certification, SGT proves its capacity to satisfy food safety requirements and its commitment to the implementation of good industrial hygiene practice.

SGT France decided to enlarge its Rezé site, and invested 14 million euros in an extension which, in October 2015, was equipped with five new, latest-generation Husky HyPET HPP5 injection presses (one of them a multilayer press). A quality control system would also be set up to complete this plant at the cutting edge of the technology.

These new production resources, which now comprised 21 injection presses on the French site, brought production capacity up from 2.5 to 3.5 billion units per year.

Meanwhile, the Rouïba site in Algeria boasted 15 injection presses for PET preforms, two presses for injection-moulding HDPE caps and one pad printing line.

As of today, the Setif factory is equipped with eight presses.

SGT Algeria obtained FSSC 22000 certification on its two production sites in Rouïba and Setif.

Acquisition by SGT France of five hectares of land in the Saôneor industrial park, at Chalon-sur-Saône, where it will set up its future preform manufacturing plant. This 10,000-square-metre factory should be operational in the spring of 2019.

On the same site, SGT also plans to create a unit to produce recycled plastic (RPET) for its own use.

Launch of the SGR activity with the production of recycled food grade plastic named “CIRPET”.

The SGT Chalon-Sur-Saone’s site is FSSC 22000 certified.
